February Makeup Menu
I very rarely share the contents of my makeup bag, mainly due to the fact I'm often changing it up and have new products in rotation. But over the last month I've been reaching for the same handful of products on a regular basis. So today I thought I'd run you through my current makeup menu.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Radiance Reveal Foundation £9.99
With the lack of sunshine and my office heating on full, my skin has been both lacklustre and dry. So like you do, I've switched up my skincare and swapped my foundation for something a little more hydrating. And after a rummage in my collection I stumbled upon an old faithful Bourjois Healthy Mix Radiance Reveal Foundation. Besides its crappy shade range, Healthy Mix is perfect for the current climate as it really does deliver a healthier complexion. Enriched with fruits, the formula is lightweight and radiance boosting, offering a medium coverage. And due to its dewy finish it's perfect or dehydrated, dry and combination skin types. Without doubt one to try.
Laura Mercier Blush and Glow Face Trio £22.50
Like any beauty addict I find it hard to resist a bargain. So when I spotted the Laura Mercier Blush and Glow Face Trio (RRP £45.00) for half the price at Space NK, I simply couldn't resist. The pretty compact contains three of LM's best-selling baked powders and was part of the LM Christmas gift range last year. It includes their Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight (01), Bronze (03), Baked Blush Bronze in Ritual and a mini face powder brush. All three of the powders are ultra smooth, and long wearing. But I particularly love the matte powders, especially the highlight which instantly adds luminosity without emphasising pores. Unfortunately this compact is no longer available at £22.50, but can be found online at John Lewis and the powders are sold individually online here for £25.00.
Hourglass Ambient Blush Palette £56.00
Housing three utterly beautiful baked blushers the Hourglass Ambient Blush Palette is simply divine. The three shades Luminous Flush, Incandescent Electra and Mood Exposure have a soft texture and a high quality, long wearing finish. The formula is a mixture of colour and their much loved Ambient Lighting Powder formula, which leaves a subtly illuminating finish to the skin. This palette is luxury and comes with a price tag to match. So maybe not something to buy now, but something to add to your wish list.
Maybelline New York Master Ink Liquid Eyeliner £4.99
Eyeliner isn't something I usually reach for during the week (ain't no body got time for that!), but when the weekends come around I like a good feline flick and Maybelline's Master Ink is pretty darn fab. It has a jet-black formula, dries matte, lasts all day, doesn't fade or flake and is relatively easy to apply. And if you struggle with eyeliner, I have the answer... sticky tape!
L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara £9.99
Yet another drugstore mascara that has done all sorts of good things for my flutter! L'Oreal Flase Lash Sculpt Mascara may have an unusual crocodilesque plastic wand, but it separates and coats my lashes effectively and quickly, whilst delivering a fanned out full lash look. It's formula is jet black and if you like full lashes this might just be that magic wand you're after. However, I do have a few minor niggles. It can on occasion flake just ever so slightly and it doesn't hold a curl all that well. But primed with a coat of Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara I can't fault it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown £15.00
I quite often get asked what I use on my brows. And the answer will forever be Anastasia's Dip Brow. There is no battle for the best brow product in my opinion. Nothing is as long lasting or pigmented. Admittedly the product from ABH was a little hard to use at first, but I found my Zoeva Liner brush works a treat and after a little practice, it really doesn't require much effort and I couldn't see myself using anything else.
MAC Modesty Lipstick £15.50
My nude lip line up is forever growing and one lipstick that's often found in the bottom of my handbag is MAC Modesty. It's muted nude pink that's opaque in just one swipe. Modesty has a cremesheen finish, meaning it has a creamy formula that doesn't cling to dry patches and is easy to wear. It's a shade I don't often hear much about, but one that's well worth a swatch next time you're in store
